Complete Meta Tag Generator

On this page you will be able to generate a complete set of meta tags for your page. Each tag is explained, and if you do not want it to appear in the output, simply do not fill in the field or choose one of it options.

Things to note:

  • Do NOT use quotes, as the output will not validate.
  • The output is in HTML, not XHTML. To make it valid XHTML, simply add a space and a slash before the closing larger-than sign (i.e. use " />" for XHTML, not the output of ">" only.)
  • The really important fields for search engines are the keywords and the description ones. If you are not going to fill in anything else, fill these in!

If you would like to see more features added, then please email me.

In the following field, enter the keywords that describe the content of your page. Each word should be separated from the one before it by a comma. Do not add irrelavent words as the search engines are onto this trick!

In the following field, enter a short description of your page's content. This really should be short (I think the first 200 characters or so are the important part).

This field is the copyright field. Enter the person/organization who owns the copyright.

Enter the page's author name.

You can control if your page gets cached or not. The default is yes, and the page is kept in the browser's cache. If for some reason you do not want the page to be cached, and hence re-load slower than usual, select the checkbox.

The following field allows you to refresh your page after a set time (in seconds). It can also be used to redirect requests to another page after a certain time. If you do not want redirection, just a normal refresh, do not fill in the URL field. If you want redirection, enter the URL, and include the http:// prefix.

There are MANY more meta tags. A very extensive listing can be found here.
