Google Now Recognizes Javascript Links as Backlinks?
Threads around the web are popping up with reports that Google is currently updating the backlinks it reports. While looking through the new backlinks, I found what appears to be a Javascript link showing up using the link: search operator on Google on one of the datacenters (DCs).
The DC search in question is gfe-jc.google.com, and the interesting result is the third one (see screen shot below).
Looking at the cached copy's source code (the same as the current copy as far as I can tell), search for 'ekstreme.com' and you'll see this:
<a href="javascript:location.href='http://ekstreme.com.....
This is a Javascript link embedded into a link tag, and is the only occurance of anything related to 'eksterme.com'.
Significance? As far as I know, this is the first time Google could be recognizing JS-based links.
