Deep link ratio calculator
Calculate deep link ratio
Deep links are incoming back-links to a specific page within the website. This is in contrast to a link to the website's root. An example of a deep link is http://ekstreme.com/phpcounter/, while a link to the website root is http://ekstreme.com/.
The deep link ratio is the ratio of deep-links to website root links. The deep link ratio metric was first described by Text Link Ads UK.
This tool, the Deep Link Ratio Calculator, uses the Yahoo! API to estimate the deep link ratio for any website. To use it, simply type in the domain name in the form above, and click the Calculate the DLR button.
The Deep Link Ratio Calculator takes three estimates for the deep link ratio: the first estimate is done by asking Yahoo! to return 100 results, the second estimate is done with 50 results, and the third estimate is done with 10 results (the Yahoo! default).
For each estimate, two queries are done. The first one, to estimate the total incoming links to a domain name is:
"linkdomain:domain -site:domain"
The second one estimates the total incoming links minus links to the domain root:
"linkdomain:domain -site:domain -link:http://www.domain -link:http://domain"
The ratio of the results of the second query to the first query is the deep link ratio.
